New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Saturday paid floral tributes to Bhimrao Ambedkar on his death anniversary, and said that restricting his vision to a section of society is disrespectful towards him, as his ideology and philosophy aimed to educate every deprived person, while connecting them to mainstream.
Sachdeva said it is extremely unfortunate that the Aam Aadmi Party leaders make political statements in the name of Babasaheb, but have “done nothing” for the upliftment of the Dalit community in their decade long governance.
The Delhi BJP chief said that starting from Arvind Kejriwal and Saurabh Bhardwaj, to AAP MLAs Kuldeep Kumar and Vishesh Ravi, all of them repeatedly make misleading allegations that Babasaheb’s portrait has been removed from the Delhi Secretariat.
“I challenge them to accompany me to the Secretariat, and if Babasaheb’s portrait is not found in the Chief Minister’s office, I will apologize but if it is found there, then the AAP leaders must apologize for spreading lies,” Sachdeva said.
Further, the Delhi BJP chief asked that the AAP leaders must tell how many Dalit or economically weaker students received educational or scholarship benefits through any government scheme during their government.
Sachdeva said that the AAP government had announced many schemes in the name of Babasaheb, including the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana for Dalit and backward-class students, but not a single scheme provided any significant benefit to these students, he claimed.
“I ask Saurabh Bhardwaj to tell how many Dalit students their government sent abroad for studies in 10 years, how many received scholarship benefits, or how many benefited from the Babasaheb Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana,” Sachdeva questioned.
He also said that Bhardwaj should explain why, despite repeated announcements, back then his party’s regime did not distribute scholarships to 5 lakh Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe students, and why not even a single student received the benefit of the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana.
