Jaiswal praises Rohit, Virat for batting guidance

Visakhapatnam, Dec 6 (UNI) Yashaswi Jaiswal’s maiden ODI century on Saturday was not just a personal milestone but also a testament to the mentorship and guidance he received from senior teammates Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

The 22-year-old revealed that constant communication with the duo during the innings helped him pace his knock and convert a promising start into a commanding century.

Jaiswal explained that discussions with Rohit focused on balancing aggression with prudence, knowing when to attack and when to rotate the strike.

“We talked about setting the tempo, how to handle different bowlers, and how to keep the innings under control,” he said.

Jaiswal also credited Kohli, who provided small targets and tactical advice during the innings, for helping him stay focused and achieve the milestone.

“Virat paaji, the minute he came, he started playing a lot of shots and we kept chatting as well. He kept giving me small targets that I need to focus on. So, it was helping me towards my goal as well. So, I really enjoyed it,” he said.

The young opener’s century was crucial in India’s convincing win over South Africa and highlighted the importance of teamwork and mentorship in shaping rising stars.

Jaiswal said the experience boosted his confidence and left him feeling “grateful and blessed” for the support he received from his senior teammates.
