- Urgent restoration of 45 bridges to be undertaken across MP
Bhopal; Following the recent bridge collapse in Raisen district, the Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has launched a statewide action plan to strengthen bridge safety. For the first time, the department has released an extensive list of urgent repair and reconstruction works, approving funds worth crores for restoring 45 bridges.
The move comes amid heightened concern after the Raisen bridge failure during the Assembly session, prompting immediate pressure to improve infrastructure safety. According to the PWD order, the 295th meeting of the State-Level Disaster Management Committee, held on November 3, prioritized urgent repair proposals submitted by various districts.
In Indore district, the ROB at Km 260 on the Indore–Dewas road will undergo repairs costing Rs 22.94 lakh. In Raisen, the bridge near the Mahadev Temple on the Salkanpur–Sehore road has been sanctioned Rs 67.18 lakh for repair work.
Additionally, in Raisen, the bridge on A.B. Road (Km 264) on the Raisen–Sultanpur route will be repaired at a cost of Rs 37.55 lakh.
The repair initiative is expected to significantly enhance structural safety and prevent future incidents across the state.
