AIIMS Bhopal drives drug safety awareness in Raisen

Raisen: In a proactive move to boost public health and drug safety, the Department of Pharmacology at AIIMS Bhopal conducted a major public awareness campaign on December 2, 2025, at Government Middle School in Bhojpur, Raisen.
The initiative, held in collaboration with the Department of Community and Family Medicine, aimed to educate students, teachers, and the local community on the critical importance of Pharmacovigilance and safe medicine usage.
A key focus of the campaign was empowering consumers to report Adverse Drug Events (ADEs). Participants were thoroughly briefed on reporting methods, including the Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI) toll-free helpline 1800-180-3024, the PvPI mobile application, and consumer reporting forms.
Crucially, the session highlighted the serious dangers of self-medication. Attendees were strongly urged never to take any medication without proper consultation from a physician, stressing that unsupervised drug use poses severe health risks, especially for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.
This outreach effort successfully fostered a shared sense of responsibility between healthcare providers and the community, thereby promoting ADE reporting and reinforcing habits of safe medication use.
