Los Angeles, Dec 4 (UNI) After a four-year wait, Euphoria fans finally have a release date: Season 3 is set to premiere on HBO this April. The teen drama, created by Sam Levinson, returns with a mix of familiar faces and new cast members, promising to pick up the intense, chaotic lives of its characters years after the events of Season 2, reported Variety.
Most of the original cast is back, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Eric Dane, Colman Domingo, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, and Nika King. They are joined by newcomers, including Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, and Marshawn Lynch.
Other additions include Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Anna Van Patten, Asante Blackk, Bella Podaras, and Bill Bodner.
Speaking at an HBO Max presentation in London on Wednesday, Levinson shared a glimpse into the characters’ lives after the four-year jump. “Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college they’d be out of college at this time,” he explained.
“We pick up Rue Zendaya south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie Kelly, trying to come up with very innovative ways to pay it off.”
Levinson also revealed key plot points for other characters: “Cassie Sweeney is living in the suburbs with Nate Elordi; they’re engaged, and she’s very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives of her high school classmates. Jules Schafer is in art school, nervous about her career as a painter. Maddy Demie is working at a talent agency in Hollywood, and Lexi Apatow is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone,” according to Variety.
He teased fans with a confirmation that Cassie and Nate do get married, promising it will be “an unforgettable night.”
Some familiar faces will be absent: Austin Abrams, Algee Smith, Storm Reid, and Barbie Ferreira. Tragically, Angus Cloud (Fezco) passed away in July 2023 at age 25.
“Euphoria” follows a group of teenagers navigating drug addiction, sex, crime, and betrayal, becoming a cultural phenomenon and HBO’s most-watched non-fantasy series. Season 3 promises to continue exploring the raw, unflinching world that has launched the careers of many of its young stars.
