Bhopal, Indian Railways has significantly upgraded security and transparency in its instant ticketing system by extending OTP-based authentication for Tatkal bookings to key Vande Bharat Express trains. This system, already successful on the Ranikamlapati-New Delhi Shatabdi Express (12001/02), took effect today.
Vande Bharat Trains under new protocol
The enhanced security measure now covers the following services:
* Train No. 20171: Ranikamalapati-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express
* Train No. 20173/74: Ranikamalapati-Rewa-Ranikamalapati Vande Bharat Express
Senior DCM Shri Saurabh Kataria confirmed that under the new rules, Tatkal tickets—whether booked online via IRCTC or through computerized reservation counters—will only be issued after successful One-Time Password (OTP) validation. The system generates an OTP sent to the traveler’s registered mobile number. This move is designed to curb fraudulent bookings and provide travelers with a secure and hassle-free ticketing experience. Passengers are urged to provide a valid, active mobile number during booking to ensure seamless ticket issuance.
