Mammootty stuns in dark new role as ‘Kalamkaval’ teaser goes viral

New Delhi, Dec 2 (UNI) The newly released teaser of Kalamkaval has taken social media by storm, with Mammootty seemingly stepping into one of the darkest roles of his career.

The 54-second clip plunges viewers straight into a chaos world, opening with a board listing missing women, accompanied by the haunting voices of their relatives.

The teaser then cuts to Vinayakan, portraying a police officer with a grave, troubled expression. The real jolt arrives when he says, “Later on, killing became an addiction for me.”

The line rewires every assumption, sparking speculation: Are both Vinayakan and Mammootty’s characters serial killers? Or is Vinayakan merely reading from something connected to Mammootty’s character? Either way, the teaser’s editing masterfully builds intrigue.

Mammootty appears next, standing beneath a windmill, scanning his surroundings with a calm yet predatory focus, whether investigating or hunting is left deliberately unclear.

The teaser reaches its most chilling moment when he is shown waiting in a dimly lit spot, followed by the now-viral line, “What gives the greatest pleasure is killing a human being.” His cold, devilish smile cements the character’s terrifying presence.

The visuals also lend weight to ongoing theories that the film may draw inspiration from real-life serial killer Mohan Kumar, known as Cyanide Mohan, hinting that Kalamkaval could be loosely based on actual events.

Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, Kalamkaval stars Vinayakan, Rajisha Vijayan, and Gayathri Arun in pivotal roles.

The action thriller is set to release on Friday, December 5, with music by Mujeeb Majeed, cinematography by Faisal Ali, editing by Praveen Prabhakar, and production design by Shajie Naduvil.
