Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Jitu Patwari on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on State BJP Government, calling it’s proposed two-year review of ministers and departments “a superficial exercise meant only for headlines.” Patwari said the State Government must first evaluate his own Home Department, which, according to official data released earlier by the Union Home Ministry, had been labelled one of the poorest-performing in the country.
“Begin with your own review, Chief Minister”
Patwari said that when even the Central government had questioned the failure of the state’s Home Department, there was no larger proof of mismanagement needed. He demanded that any genuine review process should begin with the Chief Minister’s own charge.
Agriculture, Education, Transport: A trail of allegations
The Congress leader raised serious concerns about the Agriculture Department, citing fake seed scams, misuse of permits, alleged collusion with insurance companies and critical observations made in the CAG report. He questioned whether the Chief Minister would take action against the Agriculture Minister.
In the School Education Department, Patwari highlighted the disappearance of nearly 50 lakh students from the system, even as the budget increased from Rs 7,000 crore to Rs 37,000 crore. “The numbers are vanishing, but the money is not—where is it going?” he asked.
He also criticised the Transport Department, pointing out that toll plazas continued to operate despite the Chief Minister’s earlier claims of closure.
Health, PWD and rural sectors under fire
Patwari accused the Health Department of gross negligence, referring to the deaths of 26 children, the circulation of fake medicines and alarming findings in a 500-page CAG report. In the PWD, he alleged rampant corruption leading to collapsing roads and tilting bridges, reiterating the long-standing charge of a “40% commission” regime.
He further pointed to irregularities in rural development, procurement processes and cooperative institutions, accusing the government of shielding corrupt officials.
Congress to conduct public review
Patwari announced that the Congress would now carry out a public review of each minister and department to “expose their black records before the people of Madhya Pradesh.” He challenged BJP MLAs to name a single government work in their constituency completed without bribery.
“The Chief Minister must stop performing for the public,” Patwari said. “The time for excuses is over—he must answer to his own cabinet first.”
