Domestic help arrested for theft

Bhopal: Shahpura Police have successfully cracked a case of house theft, arresting the domestic help and her niece for stealing cash and gold worth approximately Rs 3 lakh from a Trilanga residence.

The investigation began on November 23, 2025, when the complainant, Ramshankar Bhawre, reported that Rs 2,07,000 in cash and a gold chain had been stolen from his cupboard. Given the surge in theft cases, senior police officials, including Commissioner Shri Harinarayanchari Mishra, directed an immediate and intensive investigation.

Based on evidence gathered during the probe, police focused their attention on the victim’s household help, Santosh Bai (60), and her niece, Pinki Shinde (29), both residents of Baba Nagar, Shahpura.

During interrogation, the duo confessed to committing the theft on November 17, 2025. The police have successfully recovered Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and the stolen gold chain, amounting to a total recovered value of Rs 3 lakh. The swift action by the Shahpura police team, led by Inspector Lokendra Singh Thakur, was key to arresting the accused and recovering a significant portion of the stolen property.
