Bengaluru, Dec 1 (UNI) Shubman Gill is set to report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru to begin rehabilitation for a neck injury, raising hopes about his availability for India’s upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa.
The India vice-captain, sidelined from international cricket since the second day of the first Test in Kolkata on November 15, will undergo intensive treatment at the CoE. The T20I squad is expected to assemble in Bhubaneswar a few days ahead of the first match on December 9 in Cuttack.
After leaving the Indian team during the Guwahati Test, Gill consulted specialists in Mumbai for his neck spasms and continued personal rehab at his home in Chandigarh before travelling to Bengaluru.
In a related development, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested during the ongoing ODIs, is expected to return for the T20I series, with his match workload likely restricted to four overs per game.
The series will be played across five venues: Cuttack (Dec 9), New Chandigarh (Dec 11), Dharamsala (Dec 14), Lucknow (Dec 17), and Ahmedabad (Dec 19).
