Local Body Polls: 244 counting centres set up across Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 1 (UNI) A total of 244 counting centres have been arranged across Kerala for the upcoming 2025 local body election vote counting, the State Election Commission announced on Sunday.

The two-phase polling will be held on December 9 and 11, votes will be counted on December 13. These centres will serve both as distribution points for polling materials and as designated counting stations.

For the three-tier panchayats, the counting centres have been set up at the block panchayat level, while municipalities and Corporations will have centres of their own.

Ernakulam district has the highest number of centres, while Wayanad has the least. Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam have 16 centres each, Pathanamthitta has 12, Alappuzha 18, Kottayam 17, Idukki 10, Thrissur 24, Palakkad 20, Malappuram 27, Kozhikode 20, Wayanad 7, Kannur 20, and Kasaragod 9, bringing the total across all fourteen districts to 244. The Election Commission stated that all centres are equipped to ensure a smooth and transparent counting process, and security arrangements have been strengthened across districts ahead of counting day.
