BSSS IAS hosts national workshop on next-gen libraries

= Empowering knowledge hubs

Bhopal: The BSSS Institute of Advanced Studies (BSSS IAS) organised a National Workshop on Next-Generation Libraries: Driving Digital Innovation & Future-Ready Practices on Saturday. The workshop focused on how libraries can evolve from traditional knowledge centres into dynamic, future-ready learning hubs that serve students, faculty, and library professionals more effectively.

In many institutions striving for academic excellence, the invaluable role of libraries and librarians often goes unnoticed. Acknowledging this gap, the institute emphasised the need for sustained engagement and capacity-building. “Workshops like this reinforce the institute’s commitment to transforming libraries into vibrant centres of learning and inspiration,” said Dr. Fr. John P. J., Executive Director, BSSS IAS.

Chief Guest Dr. Manoj Kumar Jain, Senior Advisor at the Centre for HR & Technology, AIGGPA, highlighted the need for libraries to become more inclusive and socially impactful. He urged library systems to support startups, promote digital literacy among the elderly, and strengthen financial education for rural women and youth.

Jain also recommended new-age innovations such as podcast facilities and technology-driven solutions to bridge infrastructure gaps, noting that librarians are not merely custodians of books but guardians of knowledge.

The workshop featured expert sessions by Dr. Sandeep Kumar Pathak (Librarian, IISER Bhopal) and Dr. P.K. Tripathi (Librarian, Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal). They shared insights on innovative digital library services, modern library management, open digital learning resources, and the growing role of libraries in enhancing academic excellence.

With 45 delegates from over 21 institutions across India, the event reflected a strong collective commitment to advancing future-ready library ecosystems, marking another important milestone in the BSSS IAS vision.
