NSUI demands strict action over Ratlam school incident

Bhopal: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has called for urgent and stringent action after a Class 8 student at Bodhi International School, Ratlam, allegedly jumped from the third floor following disciplinary pressure. The 13-year-old, a national-level skating player, was critically injured. The incident occurred after the student reportedly recorded an Instagram reel in the classroom, prompting the school to summon his father and initiate strict disciplinary proceedings.

NSUI National Spokesperson Viraj Yadav expressed deep concern, stating that the matter reflects “mental harassment and an unsafe school environment”, rather than a mere issue of mobile use. He accused the school of failing to ensure the child’s emotional and psychological safety.

The NSUI has written to the District Collector, School Education Department and the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, demanding an FIR against the principal and management, suspension of the school’s recognition, and accountability of education officials.
