- Razia Bi’s health deteriorates amid ongoing SIR verification
Bhopal: Sixty-year-old Razia Bi, a resident of Qazi Camp in Bhopal, is deeply distressed due to complications arising during the Election Commission’s SIR (Special Identification Revision) process. Although she has a voter ID issued in 1995, her name has been missing from the voter list since 2003, halting her verification and increasing her anxiety.
Her son, Saddam, said he has checked every available list and visited the Collector’s office daily in search of answers, but no solution has been found. Razia Bi remains worried all day, questioning why her name is not included. The stress has taken a serious toll on her health.
On November 23, her blood pressure shot up suddenly, and due to severe anxiety, she had to be admitted to a private hospital, where she remained in the ICU for three days. Doctors confirmed that her condition was triggered by mental stress. Fearful, she said, “People say if my name isn’t included, they will send me to Bangladesh… I’m very scared. This tension has made me ill.”
However, the administration has assured her that she still has options. Deputy District Election Officer Bhuvan Gupta stated that the SIR process is ongoing and that claims and objections can be submitted for another month. He said that those with valid documents need not panic, as their names will be included after proper verification.
