Russia–India Forum to be held in New Delhi on December 4–5

New Delhi, November 28, (UNI) The Russia–India Forum will be held in New Delhi when Russian President Vladimir Putin will be in India for two day visit on December 4-5.

The theme of the forum will be “The Power of Partnership is in the Unity of Purpose. Export to Russia.” It is being co-organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The central event will be a plenary session focused on trade potential and opportunities for Indian suppliers to expand their presence in the Russian market.

Attendees will include ministers, heads of government agencies, and leading companies from both countries.

Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two nations,”Indian culture and national brands are well-known and appreciated in Russia. It is important to leverage these ties to increase imports of Indian goods and services, as the current presence of Indian products in the Russian market falls short of the enormous potential of India’s manufacturing, agriculture, and IT sectors.”

The Forum will help Indian suppliers establish direct connections with Russian retail chains, e-commerce platforms, and engineering companies.

Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russia, emphasized the strategic importance of India,”India is one of Russia’s key partners. Mutual trade has grown nearly sevenfold over the past five years, with India ranking second among our trading partners by the end of 2024. The Indian market is large, rapidly growing, and strategically important. The Forum will signal that Russia is ready to purchase Indian goods and services.”

The role of banking institutions in facilitating trade will also be discussed. Andrey Kostin, President and Chairman of VTB Bank, said,”A reliable financial infrastructure is essential for growing business ties. VTB Bank, celebrating 20 years in India, continues to expand its presence, ensuring high-quality and fast services for clients in both countries.”

The Forum will feature panel discussions on various sectors, including expanding Indian engineering products in Russia;increasing Russian imports of Indian food products and pharmaceuticals,opportunities in digital services,migration cooperation.

Anant Goenka, President Elect of FICCI & Vice Chairman, RPG Group, said,”India and Russia have stood by each other for decades, and this trust opens new doors for our industries. With ambitious trade targets for 2030, Indian enterprises have much to offer, and Russian partners are eager to engage. The Forum is an opportunity to convert long-standing goodwill into real outcomes, making it easier for Indian products to reach Russian shelves and supporting a balanced, future-ready relationship between our economies.”
