New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) Calling Operation Sindoor a watershed in India’s counter-terror and deterrence strategy, President Droupadi Murmu said that it made the world take note not only of India’s military capability but also of India’s moral clarity to act firmly yet responsibly in the pursuit of peace.

The President was speaking at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue (CDD) 2025. Based on the theme “Reform to Transform: Sashakt, Surakshit aur Viksit Bharat,” the two-day dialogue is being organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) in the national capital today.

“The Indian Armed Forces have exemplified professionalism and patriotism in safeguarding India’s sovereignty during every security challenge—whether conventional, counterinsurgency, or humanitarian. They have displayed remarkable adaptability and resilience,” the President said.

She noted that the Indian defence forces have gone beyond their operational goals and remain a pillar of national development. “Apart from strengthening our frontiers, they have also contributed to border area development, from infrastructure and connectivity to education,” she added.

Drawing attention to the geopolitical landscape, Murmu said it is changing rapidly. “The international system is being rewritten by contrasting power centers, technological disruptions, and shifting alliances. New domains of computation, cyber, space, information, and cognitive warfare are blurring the lines between domains and competencies,” she said.

Highlighting that the country has demonstrated that strategic autonomy can coexist with global responsibility, the President said that India’s diplomacy, economy, and armed forces together project that the nation seeks peace but is prepared to protect its borders and citizens with strength and conviction.

She further commended the Indian Army, stating that the force is transforming itself during this decade of change. “It is reforming structures, reorienting doctrines, and redefining capabilities to become future-ready and capable across all domains. These defence reforms will help make India self-reliant,” she said.
