Shivraj Singh Chouhan to interact with farmers in Punjab’s Moga today

Chandigarh, 27 (UNI) Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be on a visit to Punjab on Thursday to participate in a series of agricultural and rural development programmes in Moga and Jalandhar districts.

His tour will begin at 10 am in Ran Singh Kalan village of Moga, where he will hold an interaction with local farmers and residents.

Ran Singh Kalan village has earned recognition in recent years for adopting environment-friendly farming practices.

For the past six years, farmers here have completely stopped burning stubble and have implemented scientific straw management techniques. As a result, the soil quality has improved significantly, helping farmers reduce the use of chemical fertilisers by nearly 30 per cent. The initiative is being seen as a model for sustainable agriculture and soil conservation.

Following his meeting in Moga, Chouhan will travel to Jalandhar. At 1:15 pm., he will interact with MNREGA beneficiaries in Udham Singh Nagar. Later, at 3:15 pm., the union Minister will review key rural development projects in the district. He is scheduled to address a press conference at the Jalandhar DC Office at 4:30 p.m. The day’s engagements will conclude at 5:15 p.m. with a farmer interaction session at the ICAR–Central Potato Research Institute.
