- Accused arrested within 2 hours of crime
Bhopal: A shocking case of murder has emerged in Gautam Nagar area, where a 50-year-old laborer was brutally killed after a dispute over a bidi. The incident took place between 5 and 6 a.m. on Wednesday, just 100 meters from the Gautam Nagar police station.
According to Additional DCP Shalini Dixit, the victim, Suresh Kushwaha, slept on the footpath near the police station. The accused, Kartik Rathore, allegedly attacked him in a fit of rage after Suresh refused to give him a bidi on Tuesday night. The minor argument escalated, and Kartik left the spot.
However, police said Kartik returned early in the morning, picked up a stone, and crushed Suresh’s head. He left the scene but came back shortly afterward to check if Suresh was still alive. Finding him breathing, he struck again with another stone, ensuring his death.
The gruesome killing occurred shockingly close to the police station. Acting swiftly, the police registered a murder case and arrested Kartik within two hours of the incident. He is currently being interrogated to determine the full circumstances behind the crime.
