Dharmendra’s film swan song Ikkis to hit the theatres this Christmas

Mumbai, Nov 24 (UNI) Bollywood acting legend Dharmendra, who passed away on Monday, would be seen for the last time on screen in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming war epic “Ikkis”, which is slated to hit the theatres on December 25.

A new poster released during the day – and hours before the versatile actor’s death – by Maddock Films offers the first clear look at the late actor’s role in the upcoming war drama, making it a deeply significant moment for fans mourning his loss.

The newly released poster confirms that Dharmendra portrays the father of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the 21-year-old Param Vir Chakra awardee whose sacrifice during the 1971 Indo-Pak War remains emblematic of extraordinary courage. This is the first time the filmmakers have disclosed details of his character, making the reveal a poignant moment for fans.

Agastya Nanda leads the film as Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. After debuting with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies in 2023, Agastya takes on his most intense role yet. Khetarpal, who was martyred at just 21 during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, became a symbol of courage and sacrifice.

While sharing the poster on social media, the team wrote, “Fathers raise sons. Legends raise nations. Dharmendra ji, an emotional powerhouse as the father of a 21-year-old immortal soldier. One timeless legend brings us the story of another.” The caption reflects the emotional depth and patriotic spirit the film aims to showcase.

Their post read, “On 25th December, bravery marches into cinemas. Witness the untold true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra hero. #IkkisTrailerOutNow – Link in bio. #Ikkis in cinemas worldwide this Christmas.”

The announcement has intensified excitement among audiences eagerly waiting for Sriram Raghavan’s next big story.

Directed by filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films under the banner of Dinesh Vijan, Ikkis also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher in significant roles.
