- Technical glitches cited
Bhopal, The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, which began on November 4, is facing significant delays in the Bhopal district. Despite the critical deadline of December 4, only about 15 percent of the enumeration forms (ganana patrak) have been successfully digitized so far. Officials are attributing the sluggish pace primarily to technical flaws, with issues in the mobile application preventing proper data entry and causing widespread frustration among field workers.
Huzaur leads, Govindpura lags behind
The digitization effort shows highly uneven progress across the city’s constituencies. The Huzaur assembly segment is leading the charge, having digitized over 16 percent of its enumeration forms. In sharp contrast, the Govindpura assembly segment is significantly trailing, with only approximately 9 percent of the forms digitized. This makes Govindpura the worst-performing area in the district, highlighting a critical need for acceleration.
Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh is conducting daily inspections and reviews across all constituencies, personally engaging with staff and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to expedite the process. While the Election Commission claims to have updated the application, ground reality shows that even after distributing over 20 lakh forms across Bhopal, technical glitches in the BLO app continue to hamper the crucial digital scanning process. The administration must resolve these technical issues quickly to ensure the comprehensive revision is completed on time.
