Honda Cars India to launch next generation hybrid by 2027

Hyderabad, Nov 20 (UNI) Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), a leading manufacturer of premium cards in the country,which introduced the Elevate ADV Edition, a new flagship grade in the line-up of their popular SUV — Honda Elevate here today announced to launch the next generation hybrid in 2027.

“Overall till 2030, our plan is to launch about 10 models and out which, we will be launching 7 SUVs which is a very aggressive plan,” said Kunal Behl, Vice President (Marketing and Sales), HCIL, on the occasion of launching of the Elevate ADV Edition. This model strengthens Honda’s SUV portfolio and caters to evolving customer lifestyles.

“We will start our EV journey with the first launch of the Honda Alpha next fiscal year,” he said it is going to be exported as well to other countries.

The second big development is to launch the strong hybrid in India, he said currently, we have hybrid engine in the Honda City. We will be launching the advanced hybrid as well globally for the year 2027, he informed.

Honda Alpha which is basically a gateway model to the Honda Global Zero Series, is Zero Series and it basically means an EV car, he said Honda Alpha is going to be manufactured in India and it’s going to be manufactured for the world.

“We are very proud to say as it is made in India and made for the world,” he said it will be exported to a lot of overseas markets basically in Asia, Australia and Japan.

“Already we are exporting Elevate to Japan and now even the EV would be launched in India and it will be exported to other markets,” he said.

Normally, EV cars are little thick and bulky in terms of the battery once it’s a new component to it, but the Honda Alpha is designed specifically considering the Indian road conditions and Indian driving habits.

India is one of the top important markets along with US and Japan, he said “we are launching models which are more Indian specific models as well as highly advanced technological global models.”
“We have a strong market share of as high as 5 per cent in the total petrol market,” he said the EV segment in the SUV is growing. Last year, it was 2 percent and this year it has gone to 11 pc, he said.

“We are aiming for carbon neutrality by the year 2050 and by 2030, we are looking at one-third of our volume to be electrified,” he informd.

“Now in the electrified, we have an EV of course, we have a hybrid and we have the petrol,” he said.

Out of 295 outlets present in 214 cities across the country, 165 cities are mainly in tier 3, he said that “our focus is to penetrate in deeper markets.”

“However, in Telangana, we are present in total 12 outlets, but 6 are in tier 3 towns while in Andhra Pradesh, 14 outlets and in which 11 outlets are in tier 3 towns,” he said Telangana, as a state, is contributing to 5 percent of our total volume.

Telangana, as a market, is very important and Hyderabad specifically is the 5th largest market for them, he informed.

“We have a plant in Tapukara (Rajasthan), which has a historic capacity of 180,000,” he said that “we are able to export from here and it has been very widely accepted there.”

The first focus is India, he said that “we are making this car for domestic purpose and even the Honda Alfa, which is a zero series, is being manufactured for the Indian market and “if we can utilise that product for global market, we will be exporting it,” he added.

The ADV Edition is available in Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic in both single-tone and dual-tone options.

Powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine, the Elevate ADV comes with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed CVT with paddle shifters. The model retains the Elevate’s spacious interior, large cargo area and high ground clearance.

On the safety front, the ADV Edition is equipped with Honda Sensing ADAS features, including Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Road Departure Mitigation. It also has six airbags, LaneWatch camera, Vehicle Stability Assist, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and Honda Connect connected-car features with a 5-year free subscription.

The Elevate ADV Edition comes with a standard 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty, with options to extend up to 7 years and Anytime Warranty up to 10 years.
