New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Thursday chaired the 10th Pre-Budget Consultation with representatives of trade unions and labour organisations in New Delhi today, gathering inputs for the forthcoming union Budget 2026-27.
The meeting was also attended by union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Secretaries of the Department of Economic Affairs, and the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India.
This consultation is part of the government’s efforts to engage with various stakeholders ahead of the budget presentation. Labour unions have been advocating for measures to boost employment, improve working conditions, and increase wages. Sources said that all these issues had come up for discussion today as well as issues pertaining to social security and welfare schemes for workers. The union Budget 2026-27 is scheduled to be presented on February 1, 2026.
Sitharaman, had earlier in the day, also chaired the ninth Pre-Budget Consultation with experts and stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality sector. UNI SKA AAB
