- Highlights natural approaches for chronic disease reversal
Bhopal: The AYUSH Department of AIIMS Bhopal organized an important health talk on the occasion of the 8th Naturopathy Day on Tuesday. The objective of this program was to make the common public aware of the role of the ‘Gut–Metabolism Axis’ and the natural ways to improve chronic diseases. The gut–metabolism axis is the connection between our digestive system, the beneficial bacteria living in it, and the body’s energy-production processes, which together influence our overall health.
The event was organized by the AYUSH Department under the leadership of Organising Chairperson Dr. Danish Javed (Senior Medical Officer – AYUSH) and Organising Secretary Dr. Mudda Sofia (Medical Officer – Yoga). The Joint Organising Secretaries included Dr. Ranjana Pandey (Ayurveda), Dr. Barkati Mohd Tarique (Unani), Dr. Aishwarya A (Siddha), and Dr. Ashish Kumar Dixit (Homeopathy).
Two important sessions were conducted during the program. In the first session, Dr. Manoj Johnson (Medical Director – Johnmarians Wellness Group) elaborated on the role of gut microbes and their contribution towards improving autoimmune and chronic diseases through natural medicine.
In the second session, Dr. Praveen Jacob (Chief Scientific Advisor – Atmantan Wellness Centre and CEO – Alpha Natural Nutrition) discussed the process of intermittent fasting and autophagy. He explained that these methods help reduce excess body fat, especially visceral fat, thereby improving insulin resistance and lowering the risk of several chronic diseases.
