New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) In a significant development for multiple high-profile investigations, Anmol Bishnoi, a key conspirator in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui and a central figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi organized crime syndicate, is being deported from the United States, sources said on Tuesday.
According to sources, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) formally notified the family of the slain NCP leader on Tuesday, confirming that Bishnoi was removed from American territory on November 18. The move paves the way for Indian enforcement agencies to begin the formal process of taking him into custody for extradition.
Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, had been evading Indian authorities after fleeing the country on a fake passport. His international trail, as pieced together by investigators, led from India to Nepal, followed by stops in Dubai and Kenya, before he entered the United States.
He was last spotted publicly at a gathering in Bakersfield, California, in April 2023, prior to his arrest in Alaska earlier this year, which initiated the deportation proceedings.
Designated as a ‘most-wanted’ fugitive by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Anmol Bishnoi is implicated in at least 18 serious criminal cases across India. His alleged crimes include:
· Orchestrating the conspiracy to murder former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai (October 2024);
· Planning the shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence (April 2024).
· Playing a pivotal role in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala (May 2022), a case in which agencies allege he managed the plot from overseas.
A senior NIA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that Anmol served as the primary international handler for his brother’s criminal network. “He directed extortion operations, issued threats, and coordinated hits using encrypted communication from abroad.”
The official said his deportation is a major blow to the syndicate and will provide critical intelligence on its global connections in West Asia, East Africa, and North America. We are now preparing for his formal custody,” the official said.
His return to India is expected to significantly advance several major probes related to terrorism, murder, and nationwide extortion rackets.
