Imphal, Nov 18 (UNI) Security Forces carried out coordinated operations across Imphal West, Imphal East, and Tengnoupal districts, resulting in multiple arrests and the destruction of large-scale illegal poppy cultivation.
According to police, Security Forces arrested two individuals from the Mayanglangjing area under the Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district on separate occasions on Monday. Both were apprehended from their residences, and mobile handsets along with Aadhaar cards were seized during the operations.
In Imphal East, an individual was apprehended from Tiger Camp Village under Sagolmang Police Station. Security personnel recovered a .38 pistol with a magazine from a foothill area near Lai Ching, Pukhri Achouba, acting on prior intelligence.
Meanwhile, an anti-narcotics operation was launched in the Khudei Khullen hill range under the Tengnoupal Police Station in the Tengnoupal district. Security Forces destroyed approximately 15 acres of illegal poppy plantation, along with a hut, a temporary irrigation setup, and three chemical spraying pumps.
Movement of essential commodities continues smoothly as authorities ensure the passage of 400 vehicles along NH-37. Security measures have been intensified at vulnerable points, and convoys are being deployed in sensitive areas to guarantee safe and uninterrupted transportation.
