Jammu, Nov 17 (UNI) Left-arm seamer Sunil Kumar delivered a sensational performance with a five-wicket haul, while right-arm pacer Aquib Nabi impressed with four crucial wickets, dismantling the Hyderabad batting line-up here on Monday on the second day of the ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group-D match at the JKCA Hostel Ground.
Building on their bowlers’ brilliance, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Abdul Samad and Qamran Iqbal put J&K firmly in the driver’s seat, remaining unbeaten with commanding half-centuries.
Their confident batting consolidated J&K’s advantage, putting the hosts in a commanding position against the traditionally strong Hyderabad side.
With inspired performances in both bowling and batting departments, Jammu and Kashmir asserted dominance, showcasing a blend of skill, determination, and team spirit as the match heads into a decisive phase.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 88/6, Hyderabad bundled out for a paltry total of 121 runs, thus conceding a first innings lead of 49 runs.
Skipper Rahul Singh Gehlot top scored with 48 runs.
Sunil Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for J&K, who took 5 wickets by conceding 29 runs in 13.2 overs, while Aquib Nabi bagged 4 wickets by giving away 39 runs in 16 overs.
J&K were comfortably placed at 275/4 in 71 overs in their second essay, thus having a lead of 324 runs.
Kanhaiya Wadhawan played a brisk and brilliant innings of 82 runs off 98 balls, studded with 10 fours and one six, while Abdul Samad was unconquered at 77 runs off 134 balls studded with 6 fours and 4 sixes.
Promising Qamran Iqbal also scored a magnificent fifty (50) and Vivrant Sharma contributed 45 runs to the total.
CTL Rakshann took 2 wickets, Kartikeya Kak and Tanay Thyagarajan claimed one wicket each.
