Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Jeetu Patwari on Monday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging manipulation of the electoral process, mismanagement of fertiliser supplies, and a growing culture of disrespectful language among senior BJP leaders. Speaking to the press, Patwari said the Congress was fully prepared to counter the SIR process and protect the democratic rights of every voter.
Patwari emphasised that the Congress organisation had been activated at every level, with a clear and systematic plan in place. “We have appointed Assembly in-charges, and 100 per cent Booth-Level Agents (BLAs) have been deployed across the state. Their monitoring is being done through district in-charges and district presidents. Over 100 seats have already completed training for BLA-2, and the remaining training will be finished within the next four to five days,” he said. The objective, he added, was to safeguard both the rights of Congress workers and the voting rights of ordinary citizens.
Accusing the BJP of lacking sincerity towards democratic principles, Patwari said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced a narrative that revolves around manipulating elections to retain power. This is why we need to be more alert and more active.” He explained that Madhya Pradesh had been divided into 1,047 blocks, each assigned to a senior leader, with responsibilities clearly designated. “From the PCC president to every worker, each person has been assigned a number and a duty. Congress is fully committed to protecting the voting rights of every citizen.”
Turning to the ongoing fertiliser shortage, Patwari criticised the state government’s claim of smooth supply. “The day a BJP leader said there was no shortage, farmers in that very district were being beaten and jailed while queuing for fertiliser. This is the reality,” he remarked. He also questioned the practicality of the Chief Minister’s announcement of home delivery of fertiliser: “Delivery is only possible when fertiliser exists. Farmers need fertiliser, not photos and publicity.”
Patwari further condemned what he described as the “insensitive and undignified language” used by senior BJP leaders. Citing remarks made by Minister Inder Singh Parmar and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, he said their conduct reflected the arrogance of a government “drunk on power secured through vote manipulation”.
Concluding his address, Patwari reiterated the Congress Party’s commitment to safeguarding democracy. “Our goal is clear to protect every voter’s right, defend democracy, and uphold the dignity of farmers, youth, employees, and citizens.”
