Bhopal: The Open Tennis Tournament held at the BHEL Officers Club, Bhopal, concluded recently with a vibrant closing ceremony that celebrated four days of spirited competition and impressive sporting performances. Pradeep Kumar Upadhyay, General Manager and Unit Head, BHEL Bhopal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented awards to the winners and runners-up across various categories.
Participants who excelled in their respective events were honoured with premium tennis kit bags, trophies, certificates, and cash prizes of Rs 1,000 for the winners and Rs 500 for the runners-up. The ceremony was attended by senior officials including Rupesh Telang, General Manager (Feeders & TCB – Manu. Commercial & Maintenance) and President of the BHEL Officers Club; Vikas Khare, General Manager (EM); Rajesh Agarwal, General Manager (SOM); Hemram Patel, General Manager (SCR); and T.U. Singh, General Manager (HR). They were joined by esteemed guests such as Atul Dhoopar, O.P. Dixit, Pramod Dixit, Club Committee Vice President S.S. Patel, General Secretary Mayur Dubey, Tennis Secretary Pratik Srivastava, Treasurer Ritesh Awasthi, Joint Secretary Manoj Kumar Tripathi, Film Secretary Ashish Gupta, and Chief Referee Sanjeev, along with a large gathering of sports enthusiasts.
The tournament showcased an array of young and senior talent. In the Under-12 boys’ category, Naitik Jain emerged winner, with Tanushvir Singh finishing runner-up. The Under-12 girls’ title went to Gauri Sharma, followed by runner-up Reet Soni. The Under-14 titles were again claimed by Naitik Jain and Gauri Sharma in the boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively. In the men’s categories, Pratham Batham clinched the Open title, while the 35+ category was won by Krishna Urmalia. The men’s doubles event saw Krishna Urmalia and Rahul Singroli triumph.
With more than 130 players from Bhopal and nearby regions participating, the tournament reaffirmed the city’s growing enthusiasm for tennis and community sports.
