AIIMS Bhopal Ophthalmology Dept bags global award

Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal continues to achieve national and international recognition through its commitment to research and excellence in medical services. The Department of Ophthalmology has reached another milestone by winning three Best Free Paper Awards at the 6th Biennial International Conference of the International Society of Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgeons (ISMSICS), held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, from November 7 to 9.

The award-winning papers were presented by Dr. Priyanka (Associate Professor), Dr. Pratyush Ranjan Behera (2nd Year Junior Resident), and Dr. Duddumpudi Rama Tulasi Siri (1st Year Junior Resident) under the mentorship of Prof. (Dr.) Bhavana Sharma, Head of the Department. Their research explored changing disease patterns, early-onset cataracts, and innovative non-surgical approaches for ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN).

Executive Director & CEO Prof. (Dr.) Madhabananda Kar congratulated the team, emphasizing that this success reflects AIIMS Bhopal’s dedication to academic excellence, teamwork, and quality research. He stated that such achievements will inspire students and promote the development of advanced, patient-focused eye care services.

This recognition not only highlights AIIMS Bhopal’s academic and research strength but also contributes significantly to improving early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of eye diseases, ultimately reducing avoidable blindness.
