Bhopal: Senior Congress MLA from Semariya, Abhay Mishra, has levelled serious allegations of large-scale corruption in the Cooperative Department and grain procurement operations across Rewa district, demanding a comprehensive CBI investigation into the alleged scams. Addressing a press conference, Mishra presented documentary evidence and data claiming that fraudulent transactions worth over Rs 10,000 crore have occurred in the cooperative and food departments alone.
Mishra alleged that lakhs of farmers were shown as members of cooperative societies without proper records. Despite deductions for “share amounts” and “cashbacks,” many farmers never received the interest or payments due to them. He highlighted the so-called “Red Slip Scam”, where several farmers who had died were still listed as loan beneficiaries. He cited examples from Mauganj and Dubhora branches, claiming that fake loans and insurance claims were issued to private individuals.
According to Mishra, a Bhopal-based inquiry team detected irregularities but failed to take action, allegedly giving a clean chit to officials involved. He accused the Cooperative Minister and departmental officers of shielding guilty persons and ignoring reports from honest committee staff.
Mishra further revealed that fake registration of ineligible and even deceased farmers was done during procurement. He accused the Rewa Collector of favouring select societies and obstructing women’s groups and self-help collectives. He stated that 59 farmers are still awaiting payment, forced to beg for their dues while corrupt officials flourish.
While address media person, he also exposed a case involving RM Sharma, a senior officer in the NAFED-like food agency, allegedly appointed with fake degrees and now protected by senior bureaucrats, including Ritu Chauhan, niece of former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Terming the scandal “bigger than Vyapam,” Mishra demanded the immediate removal of Rewa’s senior officials and a high-level CBI probe to ensure justice for farmers and accountability for corruption at every level.
