
Bhopal: St Mary’s Convent Senior Secondary School, Bhopal, celebrated the annual function of the Foundational Group on 8 November under the theme ‘Symphony of Love’ with great joy and excitement. The event commenced with a warm welcome to the chief guests, Dr Sister Romana Fernandes, Superior General, and Ms Jyoti Ratre, renowned Everest mountaineer. Principal Maria Jagtap and Vice-Principal Dr Anu Johnson felicitated the guests with floral bouquets, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp.
The ceremony began with a graceful prayer dance performed by the young children, creating a devotional atmosphere. Through a welcome song and speech, the students extended heartfelt greetings to the audience. Teacher Nishi Manocha introduced the theme of the programme, after which students presented a delightful range of cultural performances, including the ‘Family Song’, an upbeat action song, Marathi folk dance, an inspirational English play and an entertaining Minion dance. Pahadi and Sambalpuri folk dances highlighted the diversity of Indian culture, while the school report showcased achievements throughout the year.
In her address, Dr Sister Romana Fernandes encouraged students and parents alike. A Hindi play based on the tale of the tortoise and the hare, along with qawwali, cowboy dance and energetic bhangra, added vibrancy to the evening. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a patriotic grand finale, marking an unforgettable celebration.
