Bhopal Shehar Qazi urges Muslim Community: Don’t fear SIR Survey

Bhopal: Shehar Qazi of Bhopal, Mushtaq Ali Nadvi, has appealed to the Muslim community to disregard rumours and confusion regarding the government’s ongoing SIR (Systematic Identification Record) Survey. He affirmed that the survey is a necessary and legal process aimed at strengthening the records of citizens’ identities and documents.

Cooperation is a civic duty

Qazi Nadvi stressed that the survey is a matter of fulfilling civic responsibility, not one to be feared. He urged the community to fully cooperate when government officials or employees arrive for the SIR Survey, and to provide the requested documents truthfully. He advised that if residents are not home, they should instruct responsible family members to provide the necessary papers. The Qazi warned that negligence during this process could lead to future difficulties related to identity verification.

Strengthening citizenship and identity

“Every citizen of every country obtains proof of their identity; this is neither a new nor a frightening step. Rather, it is a way to strengthen one’s country’s citizenship and identity,” said Qazi Nadvi. He highlighted that unnecessary fear and confusion about the SIR survey are being spread within the community, even though it is a regular identification verification process for every citizen. He also appealed to community organizations and youth to run awareness campaigns in their neighbourhoods to educate people on the importance of the SIR and how to cooperate peacefully.
