- Notice issued, 7 days’ salary deducted
Action has once again been taken against irregularities by doctors in government health institutions in Bhopal. Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Manish Sharma conducted surprise inspections of various outpatient departments (OPDs) and dispensaries between 9:00 and 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
During the inspection, three doctors were found absent from their respective duties. Dr. Smita Lad, in charge of the Civil Dispensary, Baghsewania, was absent at 9:30 a.m.; Dr. Saloni Singh from the Urban Primary Health Center, Kokta, was missing at 10:30 a.m. despite her attendance being marked on the Sarthak app; and Dr. Samreen Khan, posted at the Sanjivani Clinic, Habibia School, had not arrived even by 11:30 a.m. The CMHO ordered the deduction of seven days’ salary for each of the three doctors and issued them show-cause notices, demanding an explanation within 24 hours.
Dr. Sharma emphasized that henceforth, doctors’ salaries would be directly linked to their attendance on the Sarthak app. Attendance must match both in the app and the physical register, failing which salaries will be withheld. He instructed the Civil Surgeon not to release the October salary of any doctor whose attendance is not properly recorded.
The CMHO also noted several operational deficiencies during the inspection. He announced that the inspection drive would continue to ensure discipline and regular attendance. Doctors who continue to be negligent even after three consecutive notices will face strict departmental action.
