MP Mandi Board to file FIRs for tax evasion and fake documents

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing (Mandi) Board has issued strict directives to crack down on tax evasion and the illegal transport of produce using forged documents. The Board noted instances, particularly across the Gwalior-Chambal, Sagar, and Jabalpur divisions, where agricultural produce like groundnuts was being transported using fake bills and permits to dodge Mandi fees.

Managing Director Kumar Purushottam has ordered joint directors to stop settling cases with mere compounding fees. Instead, officials must scan QR codes on transport permits for authentication. If fraudulent documents are found, the goods must be seized under Section 23 of the Mandi Act, and an FIR must be lodged against the culprits. The Board also mandated the cancellation of licenses for dishonest traders and warned that supervisory officers would be held accountable for any negligence.
