Delhi to witness chillier days ahead, says Experts

New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) The weather across the national capital has begun to get cooler, with the city’s night time temperature expected to drop to a low of 12 degrees by the weekend.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) from Thursday onwards, the minimum temprature will gradually decrease and could fall to around 12 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while the maximum temperature is expected to hover near 27 degrees.

The forecast for November 6 to 10 indicates a steady decline in both maximum and minimum temperatures, the weather department noted. Mild sunshine is expected during the daytime, but mornings and evenings will feel noticeably colder.

Wind speeds have also picked up across the NCR region, including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram, since Sunday night. Stronger winds in the coming days will make the nights chillier, cautioned the IMD scientists.

“Early morning commuters have been advised to dress warmly, as temperatures are expected to dip further after next week,” warned officials at the Met Department.

Experts at the IMD explained that while daytime temperatures remain relatively high, the sharper fall at night is making residents feel the cold more distinctly.

Meanwhile, Delhi is also witnessing a visible improvement in air quality since Sunday night, owing to the Northwesterly wind blowing over the region – dispersing the pollutants. The Air Quality Index (AQI), which had remained in the “very poor” category for the past three days, improved to the “poor” category from Tuesday and is likely to further improve.

Meteorologists believe that if wind speeds remain consistent over the next few days, pollution levels may drop further, offering residents some respite from smog and haze.
