GST collections in October touches Rs 1.95 trillion at its second highest ever

New Delhi, (UNI) The gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in October touched Rs 1,95,936 crore registering a year-on-year increase of 4.6% compared with Rs 1,87,346 crore collected in the same month last year, data released by the Finance Ministry said on Monday.

The October figure is the second highest monthly GST collection on record, reflecting continued momentum in trade and consumption during the festive season.

Of the total revenue, the Centre’s GST (CGST) stood at Rs 36,547 crore, State GST (SGST) at Rs 45,134 crore, Integrated GST (IGST) at Rs 1,06,443 crore (including Rs 54,730 crore collected on import of goods), and Cess at Rs 7,812 crore (including Rs 1,009 crore on imports).

After settlement of IGST, the Centre’s net revenue stood at ₹70,384 crore and that of states at Rs 71,703 crore. Gross domestic GST revenues, excluding imports, grew 2% to Rs 1,45,052 crore, while GST from import of goods surged 12.9% year-on-year, underscoring strong trade activity.

Further, the ministry highlighted that for the April to October 2025 period, gross GST revenues rose 7.8% to Rs 10.40 lakh crore, up from Rs 9.65 lakh crore in the corresponding period last year.

Net GST revenue after refunds for October 2025 stood at Rs 1,69,002 crore, reflecting a 7.1% increase over the same month a year ago.

Among states, Arunachal Pradesh (44%), Nagaland (46%) and Ladakh (39%) recorded the highest year-on-year growth in GST revenues, while some large states saw modest or negative growth.

The Finance Ministry said the uptick was driven by robust festive demand, improved compliance and higher import-related tax collections following the recent GST rate rationalisation.
