Three militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 31 (UNI) Security Forces have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition and arrested three active militants in a series of operations carried out across Bishnupur and Imphal East districts.

In an operation conducted yesterday at Laisoi Karong Kajin area under Keibul Lamjao Police Station, Bishnupur district, the forces recovered one .303 rifle with a magazine, one 9 mm MP9, two double-barrel guns, 41 rounds of ammunition of different calibers, two stun shells, one rubber tube, two T-shirts, and a pair of hunting boots.

On the same day, an active militant was apprehended from Tronglaobi Makha Leikai, Ward No. 6, under Moirang Police Station, Bishnupur district. The arrested person was reportedly involved in the recruitment of new cadres and in extortion activities targeting the public, local businessmen, shopkeepers, and pharmacies. A mobile phone along with a SIM card was seized from his possession.

In a separate operation, another active militant was arrested from the Chingarel Tejpur area under the Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East district. He was reportedly engaged in extortion and the collection of money from the general public.

Security Forces arrested another active militant from Thangal Bazar under the City Police Station, Imphal West district. He was allegedly involved in extortion activities from oil pumps, showrooms, hotels, and government officials in the valley areas. Items seized from him include one bag, one mobile phone, one ID card, and a sum of Rs 1,400 in cash.

The arrested individuals and recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal action.
