New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA), through the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has formally contacted United States authorities regarding Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian businessman convicted in the U.S. for his role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Official sources told UNI today that the Indian agency has sent a set of specific queries to its US counterparts, seeking information on Rana’s potential connections with Pakistani entities. The NIA is investigating his role in the larger conspiracy behind the 26/11 attacks.
An NIA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said “There has been some progress in gathering information. We have sent the U.S. a set of queries and are currently awaiting their response.”
The move is part of India’s ongoing efforts to gather further evidence and uncover the complete network behind the Mumbai terror attacks.
In July, the NIA filed a supplimentary chargesheet against him in the case pertains to a criminal conspiracy hatched by David Coleman Headley, Tahawwur Hussain Rana and other members of LeT and HUJI to carry out terrorist attacks in different parts of India.
