Bhopal: The BHEL Inter-Unit Athletics Tournament 2025 began with great enthusiasm at the BHEL Bhopal Sports Club today. The event was inaugurated by P.K. Upadhyay, General Manager and Head, BHEL Bhopal, with the hoisting of the BHEL flag.
Present at the ceremony were Vipul Agarwal, General Manager (MM) and Chairman, BHEL Sports Authority; Shri Gautam Majumdar, General Manager (CMG, PMG, CC & DTG); R.K. Agarwal, General Manager (SOM); S.K. Mahajan, General Manager (TGB-Engg. Services & MM); Rupesh Telang, General Manager (Feeders & TCB-Manufacturing, Commercial & Maintenance); and T.U. Singh, General Manager (HR).
Nine teams representing BHEL units from Jagdishpur, Bengaluru, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Tirumayam, Trichy, Ranipet, Bhopal and Jhansi are participating in the two-day event.
In his address, Upadhyay expressed gratitude to corporate management for entrusting Bhopal with hosting responsibilities, praising the organising team’s efforts and emphasising teamwork and fitness. He unveiled the tournament trophy, encouraging participants to carry their sporting spirit into achieving production goals.
Other speakers, including Vipul Agarwal and T.U. Singh, highlighted the importance of sports in fostering physical and mental well-being. The ceremony concluded with the lighting of the torch and the athletes’ oath administered by Shekhar Chandra Dharua.
