- DGP Commends Valor of Officer and Cleaner Who Saved 45 Lives
Bhopal: A potentially catastrophic accident was dramatically averted by the quick thinking and immense courage of Head Constable Arvind Raghuvanshi and bus cleaner Chhota Kewat in Ashoknagar district. Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana has personally commended their “inspirational example of duty, humanity, and service.” Both individuals are set to be officially honored by the DGP.
The incident occurred Saturday evening near Bamanwar when a bus carrying 40 to 45 passengers suddenly caught fire while traveling from Isagarh to Indore. Raghuvanshi, seated in the front, first noticed smoke rising from the bonnet and alerted the driver.
When the fire quickly escalated, blocking the main exit, Raghuvanshi and Kewat displayed extraordinary bravery. Ignoring the flames and smoke, they smashed the bus windows and began pulling passengers to safety. They continued their rescue efforts until the very last passenger was safely evacuated. Moments later, the entire bus was engulfed in flames. Their decisive action and valor ensured the survival of every person on board, underscoring the dedication of the Madhya Pradesh Police.
