Battle far from over in bowling dept: Harmanpreet

Navi Mumbai, Oct 24 (UNI) In a display of grit, determination, and sheer team spirit, India Women’s cricket squad roared back to form under the watchful leadership of captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who made it clear that the battle is far from over, especially in the bowling department.

“We have been doing really well while batting, but bowling is something we need to improve. We have one more game where we can address that, and hopefully, as a bowling unit, we’ll come together and perform even better,” Harmanpreet declared, setting the tone with characteristic candour and urgency.

The captain did not mince words about the scars of previous setbacks. “Even though the last three games didn’t go our way, we knew this wasn’t what we expected. Today was the right time, and everyone stood up and lifted each other. That showed our positive mindset,” she said, her words ringing with the triumph of resilience.

Credit, however, was shared generously. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, she said, were the bedrock of the innings. “Credit goes to Smriti and Pratika. They took responsibility and played key innings for the team. We got a very good start when they both scored 200 runs,” she observed, the sparkle in her voice betraying the joy of witnessing her teammates rise to the occasion.

Playing at home added its own flavour to the triumph. “Whenever you play at home, everyone expects a lot from you. The fans are always cheering, and this is the moment to enjoy, not just take pressure. Today was our day, and I’m really happy with how we executed ourselves,” Harmanpreet said, capturing the pulse of a team that thrived under expectation.

What stands out is not just the runs scored or the wickets taken, but the unity, the undying spirit, and the unwavering focus on collective growth. Harmanpreet’s reflections read like a manifesto: lessons learned, strengths recognised, and challenges embraced.

The India Women’s team, it seems, is not just playing cricket, they are scripting a saga of resilience, courage, and hope, game by game, moment by moment.
