Australia elect to bowl against India in 2nd ODI

Adelaide, Oct 23 (UNI) Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first against India in the second One-Day International (ODI) of the ongoing bilateral series at the Adelaide Oval here today.

The hosts made two changes from their previous game, bringing in wicketkeeper Alex Carey in place of Josh Philippe, and pacer Xavier Bartlett replacing Nathan Ellis.

Speaking at the toss, Marsh said his team was keen to capitalise on the momentum from their win in the first ODI. “We’re gonna bowl first. It was really pleasing to start with a win. A lot of positives from last year. This is one of the better pitches in the country, and we always get amazing crowds here. Any time you get a chance to win a series in game two, it’s an awesome opportunity. We’ve got a lot of young guys, so I look forward to it,” he said.

India captain Shubman Gill said he too would have preferred to bowl first given the conditions. “We would have bowled first as well. Happy to bat first though. It’s never easy when it rains, so hopefully, there are no stoppages today. We’re going with the same team,” Gill remarked.
