Dhaka, Oct 20 (UNI) West Indies Cricket today announced changes to its One-Day International (ODI) squad for the remaining matches against Bangladesh, with Akeal Hosein and Ramon Simmonds drafted in as replacements.
The changes come after Shamar Joseph and Jediah Blades were ruled out of the series due to injuries. Blades has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back, which will prevent him from participating in the upcoming matches.
Joseph, meanwhile, had reported discomfort in his shoulder during the first training session ahead of the opening ODI in Dhaka. Following a detailed medical scan, he has been advised to consult a specialist in England to begin the rehabilitation process.
The inclusion of Hosein and Simmonds is aimed at strengthening the West Indies squad as they look to compete in the remaining fixtures of the series. Team management emphasised that these changes were necessary to ensure the squad remains fit and competitive.
The West Indies will now head into the next matches in Bangladesh with a revised lineup, hoping to overcome the setback of losing two key players to injury.
