Amravati reports mild earthquake tremors, authorities seek geological investigation

Amravati, Oct 17 (UNI) Mild earthquake tremors were felt this afternoon in Shivangaon Fattepur village of Tivasa taluka in Maharashtra’s Amravati district, triggering panic among residents. No loss of life or property has been reported, officials confirmed.

The tremors were experienced between 1:15 pm and 1:20 pm. Several residents reported utensils falling off shelves due to the vibrations.

Locals have informed the district administration about the incident.

Resident Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Anil Bhatkar has written to the Additional Director General of the Geological Survey of India (GSI), requesting an investigation by the Nagpur division team to assess the tremor’s intensity and possible causes.

The incident is being taken seriously by local authorities due to similar recent occurrences in the region, despite the National Center for Seismology not recording the tremor on its official portal.

Minor tremors were also reported on September 7 in Shirajgaon Mozari village of the same taluka, with villagers claiming such seismic activity has occurred intermittently over the past two years.

District authorities continue to monitor the situation and are coordinating with geological experts to determine the source and frequency of these tremors.
