Anvay Dravid leads Karnataka to victory in Vinoo Mankad Trophy

Bengaluru, (UNI) Carrying forward the legacy of one of India’s most respected cricketers, Anvay Dravid, son of former India captain and cricketing icon Rahul Dravid, played a captain’s knock to lead Karnataka Under-19 to a commanding win in the prestigious Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

Displaying maturity well beyond his years, the young wicketkeeper-batsman remained unbeaten on 82 runs off 93 balls, guiding his team home in a tricky chase of 236 runs. His calm and composed innings under pressure earned him accolades from across the domestic circuit, marking another memorable moment for the Dravid family in Indian cricket.

Karnataka, who were jolted early at 41 for 2, found themselves in deep trouble when the third wicket fell at 44, but the 18-year-old captain showed composure under pressure, stabilizing the innings with a brilliant 144-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Siddharth Akhil, who scored an impressive 75 off 79 balls.

Once Siddharth departed, Anvay took charge of the chase with maturity and precision, rotating the strike efficiently and finding gaps to keep the scoreboard ticking. He later shared an unbeaten 48-run stand with Rehan Mohammed, ensuring Karnataka crossed the finish line without further hiccups.

Observers noted that Anvay’s innings mirrored many qualities long associated with his father — patience, technical soundness, and a strong sense of responsibility under pressure. Like Rahul Dravid, Anvay also keeps wickets, adding another layer to the comparison with the former Indian skipper known for his versatility and calm demeanor.

The performance not only earned Karnataka crucial points in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy but also positioned Anvay as a potential future star in Indian cricket’s developmental ranks. Coaches within the Karnataka State Cricket Association praised his ability to anchor the innings and lead from the front.

“He’s very composed and reads the game beautifully. The way he handled the pressure after those early wickets shows his cricketing maturity,” said a team coach after the match.

The Vinoo Mankad Trophy, regarded as one of India’s most competitive junior tournaments, has served as a launching pad for several national and IPL players. With this performance, Anvay Dravid has not only strengthened Karnataka’s campaign but also made a strong statement about his own cricketing journey.

For many fans, seeing another Dravid leading from the front was a moment of nostalgia. And for Karnataka cricket, it may well mark the rise of a new generation carrying forward the spirit of discipline, grit, and quiet excellence that the Dravid name stands for.
