SC’s nod to green crackers brings cheer to traders and revs up festive hopes

New Delhi Oct 15 (UNI) In a decision that has been welcomed by the business community, the Supreme Court’s permission to use green crackers this Diwali is being hailed as a move that balances environmental concerns with traditional celebrations.

The ruling has sparked optimism among market associations, who anticipate a significant surge in shoppers and a vibrant festive season.

Paramjit Singh Pamma, President of the Sadar Bazaar Bari Market, expressed his gratitude towards the apex court.

“We welcome the Honorable Supreme Court’s decision to allow green crackers on Diwali,” Pamma stated. “This decision not only reflects our commitment to environmental protection but also upholds our right to celebrate our festivals.”

He emphasized that the move would have a dual benefit. “This decision will not only make our city clean and safe but will also fill our festivals with joy,” Pamma added, highlighting that green crackers are designed to be both eco-friendly and visually appealing, ensuring that the festivities remain colorful and attractive.

The court’s order is also expected to provide a substantial boost to the local economy. Pamma pointed out that Diwali, a festival synonymous with lights, sweets, and firecrackers, sees a massive influx of shoppers.

“The permission for green crackers will increase the number of shoppers in the market,” he said, confidently predicting that this would ensure Diwali is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm this year.

The business community’s response underscores a sense of relief and anticipation. Many traders believe that the clarity provided by the Supreme Court will encourage more people to come out and shop, revitalizing market activity that is crucial during the festive season.

The hope is that this decision will steer the city towards a future where tradition and environmental responsibility can coexist harmoniously.
