Sri Lankan PM Harini Aamarasuriya arriving on maiden visit

New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Harini Aamarasuriya is visiting India from October 16-18, in her first visit after assuming office.

She will meet with Indian political leaders to discuss bilateral issues of mutual interest.

The Sri Lankan media said she is to hold several high-level meetings, including with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Sri Lankan PM will deliver the keynote address on “Steering Change in Uncertain Times” at the ‘NDTV World Summit’ on October 17, organized by NDTV and Chintan Research Foundation in Delhi.

Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who is also the Education Minister of Sri Lanka, will visit Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi as well as NITI Aayog to explore avenues of collaboration in the domains of education and technology.

The PM of Sri Lanka, a distinguished alumna of the Hindu College of Delhi University, will also visit her alma mater.

She will also participate in a business event to strengthen commercial linkages between the countries, an Indian readout said. This visit continues the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Sri Lanka, advancing the deep and multi-faceted bilateral ties. It will further strengthen the bonds of friendship, reinforced by India’s ‘MAHASAGAR Vision’ and its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, it added.
