Seoni, Madhya Pradesh – The high-stakes Seoni ‘Hawala’ scandal, involving an alleged ₹3 crore theft, has forced an admission of reputational damage from the top ranks of the police.
Jabalpur Zone Inspector General (IG) Pramod Verma arrived in Seoni, acknowledging that the incident had “tarnished the image of the police.” Following a high-level review, the IG transferred the sensitive case to the Jabalpur Crime Branch for deeper investigation, to be led by ASP Dipendra Singh.
The shocking revelations have already led to the suspension of 11 individuals, including CSP Pooja Pandey. Adding a new twist, an FIR has been registered against three complainants—Sohan Parmar, Sheikh Mushtaq, and Irfan Pathan—under relevant sections of the law.
The decision to transfer the probe signals the complexity and seriousness of the scandal, which has implicated several officers and shaken the entire police department. The Jabalpur Crime Branch is now tasked with unraveling the full extent of the alleged illegal money transfer and subsequent theft.
