Madhya Pradesh Ex-LoP Slams CM over ‘Rampant’ Illegal Sand Mining in Bhind

Bhind: Former Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Govind Singh, has penned a sharp letter to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, demanding immediate action against large-scale illegal sand mining in the Bhind district. Dr. Singh alleges that roughly one crore rupees worth of sand is being stolen daily without royalty, a racket he claims is operating due to administrative collusion.

In his communication, Dr. Singh points out that even though the CM holds the Mineral Resources portfolio, illicit quarrying of sand, stone, and gravel persists. He explicitly names areas like Girwasa, Barha, Ajanar, and several others across the Lahar, Mehgaon, and Bhind assembly segments, where hundreds of trucks and tractor-trollies are reportedly extracting material daily.

The former Opposition leader asserts that the entire illicit operation is facilitated by a nexus between Revenue, Police, and Mineral Department officials. Dr. Singh’s letter has reignited concerns and scrutiny over the massive illegal sand trade and the alleged official complicity in the district.
