AAP accuses EC of bias in Bihar voter list revision

New Delhi October 12 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday launched sharp criticism against the Election Commission of India, alleging that its recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar systematically favored the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Singh claimed that the revision process, which resulted in the deletion of 80 lakh voter names, found only 315 foreign nationals on the list. He stated that of these, 78 were Muslims and the rest were Nepali Hindus. He questioned the rationale behind the large-scale deletion of names for such a small number of non-citizens.

The AAP leader further alleged that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had created 5 lakh duplicate voters and 1 lakh nameless voters, all intended to benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. He described the Election Commission as “vote-chor” and asserted that it had pre-decided the outcome of the elections in favor of the NDA.

Singh released a video message on social media platform X, appealing to opposition parties in Bihar to campaign vigorously. However, he expressed doubt about the election’s fairness, suggesting that the Commission had already “stamped NDA’s victory” through the revised voter list.

Responding to the BJP’s frequent allegations about infiltrators and foreign voters, Singh pointed out that the party had not identified a single such voter in Bihar. He characterized the SIR exercise as a tactic to target a small number of Muslim voters and harass the state’s entire electorate.

The MP warned that with 5 lakh alleged duplicate votes, election results could be manipulated, citing examples from Haryana and Delhi where small vote margins changed outcomes. He claimed the reduction of 80 lakh voters overall, combined with the addition of fake names, had effectively predetermined the election results.

Singh questioned whether the Supreme Court would intervene in the matter and whether elections would proceed based on the revised list. He concluded that the current situation represents a threat to democratic functioning.

The Election Commission of India has not yet issued a response to these allegations.
